Writer, producer, director, performer, consultant, entrepreneur, and educator, Don Mogavero has thoroughly enjoyed a varied professional career that has allowed him the opportunity to travel and work around the world. From university classrooms, to iron mines in the Australian outback, to textile mills in the Swedish countryside, to the swamps of southeast Georgia, to the corporate boardrooms of DuPont, Johnson & Johnson and Fluor-Daniel, he draws on his entire experience for an insightful and useful perspective on education for today. | ![]() |
Don was a communicator able to mentor college students one-on-one even as he was able to keep a lecture hall full of young people listening to his every word. He was not only a knowledgeable professor, he was a gifted entertainer…if you have the opportunity to expose your students to Don Mogavero, I would encourage you to do so.

Dr. Don Mogavero is perhaps the best speaker I have ever heard on a college campus – ours or any other. If I knew that Don Mogavero were giving a talk on campus, I would walk the proverbial 5 miles in the snow to hear him speak.

Don Mogavero would have no difficulty commanding an audience at any level. I’ve seen him connect with diverse audiences, who speak at least 5 different languages from as many countries. Don possesses an amazing set of life experiences…it would be a unique opportunity for young adults to hear from someone who has worked creatively on projects in places that most of them only read about.

Don understands how to reach students. He can connect with this audience because he understands the choices, issues and opportunities they face. He relates by drawing from his own life experiences and sharing the stories of the many students he has helped through the years. He is comfortable in his own skin. He’s direct, honest, informal, creative, unconventional and engaging. He has a knack for relating to a group on a personal level.

Don Mogavero is truly the best teacher I have ever had. His impact on my life has influenced what I have done for the last 18 years. In large classes of 300 and in small classes of a dozen, Don knew how to captivate and teach lessons that have stayed with me for half my life. His lectures were events...hard to get into and often standing room only.

Imagine getting up at the crack of dawn to get to a 9:00 class just in time to find a small space left on the concrete steps in the lecture hall with 350 other students, then sitting on the cold cement for over an hour and enjoying every minute of it.
Student Evaluation
More than 300 mass communication students filed by the flickering candles and the silver casket wherein lay their beloved professor ‘Dr. Don,’ ghostly white hands folded gracefully on his chest. The lecture starts, and students nonchalantly reach for their notebooks, as if nothing were unusual about their teacher lying stiff as a board in a casket while his voice booms from the public address system above him. They begin writing down key points of the lecture.
